Encourage all Candidates to Disclose
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

In Washington DC I could see how Marion Barry might get elected to public office but not Edgewater.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
If the Candidates don't disclose information that could be harmful to the City do what I did and conduct a public records search to learn about the backgrounds of people who want to run this city.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
If your an alcoholic, drug addict , can't hold down a job, unable to manage your finances or life, serious past arrests........... Do me a favor and don't run.
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
I won't name names because each voter should be able to make up thier own mind.

The thing is, the biggest crooks are almost always the ones who don't get caught.

It is the silly season in Edgewater being an an election year.  I don't see any reason to ruin a persons reputation,  but on the other hand we all might suffer.  Honesty goes a long way in my book.  Don't hide what you are especially since others will find out and word travels fast in a small community.

The vetting process is important and the candidates aren’t the ones who tell all.  So, just so we can all start on the same page, what public records did you search?  City of Denver?  Denver County?  City of Edgewater?  Jefferson County?  State of Colorado?  Someone’s District Court?  Dexonline?  The National Enquirer?  There is a lot of public information out there.  Where did you go?

Try LexisNexis or Intellius -  or any other  number of comprehensive sites.  You can get all the information and then some for a small fee.

I've spoken with the citizens who are involved in what we now have as a citizen watch program. They want it expanded and more effective. If you vote for me, I'll support these citizen efforts and work to make sure our City is utilizing the resources our citizens are trying, really hard, to make available.

A question, Devon.
If you are elected how do you propose to 'support' a citizen watch program? What are you going to do that council hasn't already done? This has come up before, council supports it, the police chief supports it and essentially, if the people don't want to do it it ain't going to get done.

The true sign of a naive candidate is this notion that a collection of unsupported words have value.  The words are the easy part.  The only part that counts is whether or not the idea can really be done.  Failure is the norm because people think their words have value.

Great question!!!!!!  What, exactly, are you going to do?  Walk the streets?  Bankroll the expenses?  Perform the duties of block captain for 20-plus blocks?  What are you going to do?????????  And just what exactly do you think a COUNCIL PERSON can do??????

The last post was well written.

Under Chief Keough the crime rate is down and people  are actually walking the streets at night.  Yes there has been an awful lot of burglaries here but the PD has arrested many of the perpetrators.  Neighborhood watch programs are way up.  I also wonder what Devon plans.  It's great that he was campaining to fix problems with the police and fire but then looks awfully foolish when the stuff he is trying to fix is already in place and working.

I guess Devon can get behind a new space for the cops and firemen. NOW that's an issue to run on.

Uh, too late. This issue was taken up by councilors Bossert and McElhany in the spring. A couple of ideas were looked into. When we got our new CM the process got put on hold until the finance department got worked out and a realistic plan could be brought forth. This, as I understand, was approved by the chief of police as well.
Oh, and Devon, the fire department space is also already on the burner.

Now what?
