I haven't heard to many good things let alone READ anything good things about EDGEWATER.

So, its kinda like the movie Apolo 13.  What, do we have that's good???

While, its the Farmer; the question is quite legitimate.

At this point (I should be kissing my sister...).
This topic was made to actually dump on those that refuse to acknowledge the citizens.

Big trouble,
The Farmer

OK, that was probably a little crass even by the Farmers standards.

Clarification:  Its very difficult to find any positives on here and frankly I spend way to much time here.  It seems like every forum or topic you goto the intention is generally good whether its a statement or a question but, in the blink of an eye turns to fingerpointing and dumping. So, I think maybe this thread should be both. If you have good things to say; say'em here and if you want to dump on the Council, the Mayor, pr or others maybe you could put that here as well; then stay on topic and reference What's Good.
The Farmer is just as guilty as the next poster and I doubt I can refain from a good dig or jab.

I'll start:  How about the Public works dept.  What a great bunch of individuals that work very hard and are as nice as they can be. I'll leave out the alley project as this was sub contracted but, might still be a sore spot for a few.

How about the Recycling Committee.  Another group of hard working citizens. Who have basically gifted wrapped a plan for Councils review. They completely understand what they are doing.
They have taken the information from one of the famous studies and ran with it.  It will only be as good as the information they were given to work with. That being said, why pay for a study if you don't intend to use it.

Good luck,
The Farmer

When I originally made this thread I certainly thought it to be a TEST.  Thank you Edgewater!  You have proved yourselfs. What's good about Edgewater; can't make a single page on the stick but, mention Boards and Commissions and O'le...9 pages. WOW, I certainly don't feel smarter.

I would like to thank the wacky broad "Janette" and her followers for an outstanding job for Edgewater clean-up Day's.  I think based on her passion this event was successful.  Since when wasn't  the clean-up days over at 10:30ish on Saturday?

Hopefully, the Ice Ranch will have over taken the current site.  Knowing the current Jefferson Principal this should continue til we have no items deemed less than desirable.

Big thumbs up "Papp
and a KISS,

The Farmer

What’s good around here are people like Farmer Scott.  People that make us think once and awhile.  You bring up a good point Farmer Scott.  How sad that we can’t even fill a single page on the Stick with good stuff.

You’re also right as to the up coming elections.  That’s a good thing too.  Here’s a thought or two on the elections.

During the same time we all ran outta good things to say we had a lawyer at the helm of council.  I think this is a big part of our problem.  Not only was a legal mind set in charge of policy making, but unfortunately a few too many of the newest and youngest council member decided he was doing things right.  I don’t think his approach was right.

There is a big difference between Judicial process and Legislative process.  Judges are supposed to be ‘blind’ and just consider the facts.  The law, not personal bias is key to good justice.  That is why Lady Justice is blindfolded with the scales of justice balancing in her hand.  Legislators on the other hand are supposed to bring their biased opinions into the discussion.  Those opinions come from the environment and the people that legislators are representing.  That is why senators from New York City can support ideas that senators from Montana oppose, and neither one of them is ‘wrong’.  This is the idea behind “of the people, by the people and for the people”.

A consistent theme on the stick for some time now has been a feeling that our ‘representatives’ aren’t representing us. The ‘decision’ makers have become blinded to the voice of the people.  Sure, rules and process are important but they are not the be-all, end-all.  I look forward to the elections and the opportunity to choose representatives who understand the difference between knowing Robert’s Rules of Oder and knowing their constituents.

Thanks Farmer Scott, you made me think.  Since the stick is mostly political when I couldn’t think of anything good to post on your thread I really had to sit back and ask my self why everything was so bad.  And in the process I discovered something good.  You, Farmer Scott, and the rest of my neighbors are good.  The privilege of voting is good.   In Edgewater it is pretty easy for regular every day people to make a difference.  This really is a great little town.  And thank gawd we have a vote.

Great post Edgewater is Good.  The best thing about Edgewater is it's size.  The Citizens do have a say.  In a big City how many people feel they can call their City Councilperson, Mayor or City Manager?  The people of the town are great, all be it, they like rumor and have a penchant for complaining but, hey were a small town.  What do you expect?  One thing I do know about Edgewater, in times of need, you always have a someone at your back.  It could be a Fireman or just a neighbor down the street.  People talking on the streets even though they come from opposite sides of town.
Yeah, all considered, life is good in Edgewater.

I have faith in the citizens of this community. They may be quiet but they are paying attention. If their representatives don't listen they are gone in the next election. There is a tenacious loyalty to this community. People here are a part of something larger than themselves, their lives extend further than their front sidewalk. They refuse to be disenfranchized or marginalized. They know how to wait and how to pick their battles. They are seasoned citizens.
They vote their voice and they vote their inclusion. They will continue to demand and receive a vocal place at the table where the discussion is about "What is best for Edgewater".
I love the tenacity!

It seems to me that there are about 7 - 10 people, both on these forums and going to council meetings regularly. There are about 5,500 people in the city of Edgewater.
Is it fair to say that those who go to council meetings and those who talk on the stick represent the other 5,490 people in Edgewater?
There are just about that many on council who were actually elected by the ones who don't show to council or post on the stick.
So, who is council NOT listening to?
