What is going on in the National Politics Topic?

Moderator,

I disagree with the above poster.  People across the country are reacting to the DHS report.  And that’s what is happening on the National Politics thread. Below is a segment from an internet article that addresses the same issue.  I admit, Fox News is almost always a bit over the top for my taste, but it takes all kinds.  Mr. London may have a point.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2...report-right-wing-radicalization/ wrote:
Herb London, president of the Hudson Institute, a Washington-based think tank, said DHS' latest report "clearly appears to censor right-wing opinion," while its earlier assessment of left-wing extremists does not.
"I must say it's chilling, it worries me a great deal," London said. "I never have encountered a time in American life when condemnation of a president is not permitted. This really did strike me as odd, indeed."
London called on President Obama to repudiate the right-wing report.
"What is the message here? That conservative organizations are not permitted to engage in any language that might be described as unfavorable to the president," London said. "Keep in mind this is entirely subjective to begin with."

Wrong place

Moderator:
If you Google "Herb London, president of the Hudson Institute" you discover he too is right wing and the Hudson Institute is a conservative think tank. They have been blogging against progressive ideas and the Obama presidency for quite a while now.
Hardly, a neutral source, to say the least.
We also know that big business, (the ones taking their money off shore, thereby placing a much greater tax burden on ordinary citizens) would love to see a backlash of this nature. I think it is irresponsible to provide them with a place to agitate.

We have a black President for the first time, in a country known to have far right wing, racist, fanatics and a history of assassinations.

It makes sense to me that extra concern, caution and vigilance should be used in watching these hate groups who could be, once again, incited to violence. This more than justifies the DHS' latest report. It is a response to a new set of circumstances.

The Fox "News" network seems to be shilling for the corporate titans and manufacturing this not very grassroots uprising to feed the paranoia and violence associated with these groups.

Since when do you equate working class, law abiding Republicans with violent right wing fanatics? It's not the same thing and yet that is what is being implied here as the reason to criticize this report.
There are lots of forums for these Rush Limbaugh groupies to spew their venom at each other, why do I have to read it in my community forum? I notice if anyone else tries to post in that topic they immediately get shouted down which is the only TS guideline the TS admins asked us to adhere to. For that reason alone, they could be moderated.

I thought they opened a National Politics topic for the election.
The election is over.

Ya Gotta Laugh!

http://www.salon.com/opinion/wals...15/tea_parties/?source=newsletter

If anyone caught Rachael Maddow talking about the tea bagging  Monday or Tuesday night (you can watch at MSNBC.com Rachael Maddow or Stephen Colbert (check it out on Comedy Central on line) last night you might feel better about the topic. They were too funny.
This tea party "movement" will last about as long as a hail stone. In the meantime, it is pretty good comic material for the likes of Colbert, Stewart and Maddow. Where is Lewis Black when you need him?
Enjoy it while it lasts.
No Censorship

Believe it or not I’m not supporting the right-wings (or left for that matter), but I don’t understand why there seems to be a push to shut down a thread and stop debate.

“they opened a National Politics topic for the election. The election is over.”  Does that mean the ONLY topic of Urban Development is the Heritage Center.  The ONLY topic of City Government is fireworks.  Like London (a guy I don’t find useful) said “"Keep in mind this is entirely subjective to begin with."  Does WHO says something matter more than WHAT is said?

Let people post their minds and their thoughts.  And by all means, tune into Maddow/Colbert.
It's Time

The reason for shutting down the National Politics thread is to protect all the good citizens in Edgewater from the Bible thumping, gun clutching, racist, right wing whackos.  Yesterday was truely frightening.  I had to keep my kids home for their own saftey.  There were so many of those Tea Party Nazis on the streets even the cops couldn't control them.  These people need to be rounded up and put in prison and all their books burned.  They are destroying freedom for the rest of us.

RightWing Wacko's Safe In Edgewater!

Last time I looked they were snuggled up in their warm, little National Politics topic, safe and sound and exhausted from their big day yesterday. Sleep the sleep of the just, little ones.
