City Website WHERE IS IT?
|
Want information NOW!I used to be able to link to the new Citiy website from the old URL now I can't. What gives? Does anyone know the new address?
All I wanted to know was when the Chili in a bag Christmas thing was. I know I can call the City and listen to the recording but that is NOT as easy as checking the website (for me, anyway) I sure wish they would get that thing up and running this feels like a news blackout.
I'm sure the City wouldn't want people turning to the TalkingStick for information they should be providing!

GAWD NO!!!!! What would people think? But ya know.... I do believe the Talking Stick has been accessible for a lot longer than the City website. Hmmmm - what do you think that means?
And ya know what else? NOBODY gets paid to keep THIS site up and running.
Maybe Santa knows about the Chili in a bag thing. I hear he was invited.

The phone line is as out of date as the the website is. I think it talks about Labor day or something.
Don't know if it is the city clerk or the mayor that is dropping the ball here, but someone is really doing a bad job.

Anyone know Sant's e-mail address?Come on you guys, someone knows when the Chili-in-a-bag thing is, besides Santa, please!!!
It was, ah, kind of fun hanging out down there the one and only time I attended. It was, in a word, quaint and sooooo Edgewater. It definitely made me smile, kept expecting to see characters from "It's a Wonderful Life" walking down the street in the snow.
The City recording is out of date too? No website, no recording? Well, I guess I will rely upon the venerable, all volunteer all of the time Talking Stick! At least here I can usually find the City Council Meeting agendas. Thank you TS.
Now about the chili in a bag?
Thank you!

City WebsiteOK you'all. I just went to our city website, and lo and behold clicked at the top on "departments", down came a menu, clicked on "Parks & Rec" and then on "Chili in a bag, Christmas lighting ceremony" and there it was - everything you wanted to know about the event. By the way, the announcement says 5:30 to 8 P.M. not 6. (At the REC center, not Sloans, they will provide the chili).

Love ya Mr. Bill, and I'm not trying to nit-pik the details, but the posters on the elevator at city hall and along 25th Ave says 6:00 - 8:00. I think the point of all of this is not so much the Chile-in-a-Bag as it is the lack of information from the city to the citizens.
It used to be much better - not too long ago. What happened? Do we really have to start depending on the Talking Stick?

I just tried the old website link on the new website and it worked fine.

the chili in a bag --- city site says 5:30
choice city newsletter says 6
so you decide when it is?

And what would be so wrong with that? It's a heck of a lot more reliable - and it has a history that is unmatched.
You should be proud to say you are a 'Stickian'. Even if you are an anonymous Stickian. I think those two are synonymous.
HOHO the mistletoe, hung where you can see....

maybe...Just maybe after someone at the City read on the Talking Stick that the city website wasn't coming up and they did something or called someone to fix it. Or maybe the person working on the new site had it down and was working on it at the time. Who cares? The poster says the old address used to link to the new one. Does it still link to the new one? Has the City made an effort to let the community know what the new web address is? I'm glad the site is up and running (or even limping and under construction!) I'm sure it will get better with time but I do have to wonder what's the point here?
The Talking Stick has always been happy to share the Internet with the City website and proudly proclaims they are not a City sanctioned site. People can decide, independently, where they prefer to get their information.
I use both. Often I fact check on the Stick! Ha! How's that for heresy?
I wouldn't get my financial opinions from the Rocky Mountain News and I wouldn't get my movie listings from the Economist. The more information the better. Where there's smoke there's fire...in every myth there is a kernal of truth blah, blah, blah
The City website and newsletter serve one function: public information and sometimes the Stick (i.e. the community of readers and writers known as Stickians (? ) can pick up the slack but that doesn't mean you "have" to rely on your neighbors for information, you can walk down to City Hall and ask yourself, if you want. The exercise will do you good.

Christmas LightingDespite the fact that we have 2 different start times for tomorrow's ceremony and festivities, at least the word is out. I think all will see a marked improvement in our City's website very soon, it is looking pretty good as of now. The main thing is that we all know close enough what time it is tomorrow night, and hope to see many of you there. If you happen to see me, please holler and say hello, I will do the same. I am really looking forward to sitting in Santa's lap!!! (Just kidding, don't hold me to that).
