Out of BusinessToo bad the Tiki Torch couldn't make it. I hate to see one of our local businesses go down the drain. Thought the food was OK, but they did nothing to publicize or properly market the place. Who besides just a few of us knew anything about it? The Buzz in the Rocky wrote an article on it, but apparently that wasn't enough. These people had a bar & restaurant in downtown Denver previously, and I would have hoped they knew how to market this one in today's tough economic situation. Guess not!

I have heard that the problem was the location of a wet bar as it would not come into compliance with our building codes. Just a rumor from a reliable source.

Interresting how a "rumor from a reliable source" can quickly be accepted as fact, especially in Edgewater. I called the City's Building Inspector (how much more reliable can you get?) and he said that he has never heard anything about this "wet bar" and in fact he hasn't been to the Tiki Torch in months.
Guess the rumor mill will just have to try a different tack.

Thats why I said it was a rumor. Heck I didn't even hear it in Edgewater. That's the word on the streets in the Highlands area.

It is good to clear the air on something like this. This kind of rumor could really hurt their chances to sell the business. It is bad enough that it didn’t work for them I hope things go well for them as they move forward.

Tonight there is a sign in front of the 'old Tiki Torch' that says there is going to be a grand opening on March 1st. Can't remember the new name. Something like "Jim's"
