Unlike other socialist announcement posts on the Stick, I invite debate.  But then again I appreciate my and your 1st Amendment Rights, I am a true Patriot.
say you aren't

you are not a Patriot

No debate from me. You are nuts. Where were you with all yor protests when the previous government, led and tolerated  by Bush and company, broke and devastated our country?  Give our new government a chance to repair the damage. And don't hold your breath, it will take a while---thanks to the greed and selfish #%@*er"s  who cared nothing about their fellow man.
Patriot

I love it.  Free speech for all.  Thanks for the input Bother.

Get Used To It, Patriot

Yes! My sentiments, exactly.
You, patriot, won't get any debate from me either.
Say good bye whoever you are, who calls yourself "patriot".
I call you "blind running sheep" and you and your soul less pontificating money changers can't lead anyone over the cliff with your kind any more.
Enjoy the silence of Freedom of Speech, patriot.

Patriot I'm with you 100%.  And do you notice that whenever you make the "progressives" on this site angry they never tell you why their leaders are on the right track.  They just state what a rotten guy the last president was as if that gives license to carry out any policy no matter how destructive.
say you aren't

Here's a very informative article about why we "progressive and true  Patriots" believe in our President and his direction, if you care enough to read it

Great.  I ask you to tell me why your plans are good instead of bashing the last guy in office.  Not only do you fail to state your case, you post an article written by someone else.  To top it off the article spends half it's time bashing the last administration and reaches back to bash Reagan.  Well done I'm duly impressed.

Obamanomics

Thank you for posting this article. I thought it very succinctly made the case for a healthy economy that will benefit the majority of working Americans and bring us into the emerging global economy in a position to be competitive.
It also explains the economic philosophy of the last 25 years and why it has resulted in the dire situation we find ourselves in today.
It was an even handed analysis of our economic past, present and hopefully our better future. I found it reassuring that finally we are on a sustainable, rational path that will lead us back to a responsible economic policy, one that addresses the needs of the many instead of the few most wealthy.
In my view, it is foolish not to analyse our economic mistakes, learn from them and correct them. We have 25 years of an economic policy that has led to this "global economic meltdown". If we don't learn from it and recognise it as failed policy we are doomed to repeat it. We can't afford to do that.
Further, any meaningful examination of history will note the administration in power at the time a particular policy is enacted. That hardly constitutes "bashing". The means our leaders are responsible for the outcome of their actions. They are responsible. Anyone who asks to lead this country must accept responsibility for the outcome of their policies. It is time we insist that they do.
Again, thank you for sharing this article. It helped me understand what President Obama plans to do and it sounds like a very good plan to me.
1st Amendment

When W decided to invade Iraq the nations of the world protested.  W, pompously and arrogantly said @#$% you I’m doing it anyway.  Now, with a different “WAR” (the economy) the nations of the world are protesting and OUR president is saying @#$% you I’m doing it anyway.

God Bless America!
silence

what was that buzzing sound?

Obama is indeed a miracle worker, he is not only President of the United States he has bought himself a car company without spending one dime of his own money.  I wonder when he is going to buy up Microsoft.
Love the debate everyone, enjoy those rights while you can.  Here is a gift for all my Liberal friends out there:
The worker becomes all the poorer the more wealth he produces, the more his production increases in power and range. The worker becomes an ever cheaper commodity the more commodities he creates. With the increasing value of the world of things proceeds in direct proportion to the devaluation of the world of men. Labour produces not only commodities; it produces itself and the worker as a commodity -- and does so in the proportion in which it produces commodities generally.

Karl Marx, Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts (1844)

You gotta love that guy and I'm sure he is a true inspiration for our President.
good though...

Patriot, that’s sweet of you to help Utah find a local tea party, but his appearance might be more of a shocker than what our taxes pay for.  It’s a pretty safe bet that Mr. Phillips would indeed steal the show.

Little P Patriot,
Interesting.  Not sure how it pertains to the Tax Day Tea Party but, interesting.  Obamas campaign was one of the most successful advertising blitzes (logo and all) in history.  The other one was ran by an Austrian back in the 30's.

The good ones die young.  My apologies to Mr. Phillps family, he is an American Icon.
Why didn't someone call me last spring about his untimely demise?

Why he shot his TV :)

Patriot, perhaps you should question more of what you hear in the media, we all should!
I hope you enjoyed being introduced to a few of the people who have influenced me about things, namely Utah Phillips and Noam Chomsky. I hope you continue to learn from them and never take anything you hear in the media at face value; left or right.
Make Utah proud. This is why he shot his TV

I found this interesting.

Little P Patriot,

This is all very interesting and of great interest to all of the starving artist out there who would like to have thier projects funded with no strings attached.  Not being an artist I am still convinced that there is the craft and then there is the business of art.  Old Utah went out and beat the system and did it his way.  He was willing to make the sacrifice and live a modest life, he was a true Patriot.
However, and not to step upon your 1st Amendment Rights, I would like to steer the debate back to the Tax Day Tea Party event.  If that is agreeable with all.
Catherine de' Medici

Historically the arts have never supported themselves.  They have always needed patrons, whether it be the church, a wealthy philanthropist, art commune, government or corporate sponsor.  In every case the patron always had an influence upon the art produced.  It is a relationship as old as mankind.

Art vs the Public's Right To Know

While it is true, Catherine, most of Rembrandt's portraits are likenesses of the well to do and while it is true the Opera could not survive without the check books of Doctors, CEOs and endowments the news media: the press, television, radio and periodical news claim to uphold a certain professional level of "fair and balanced" reporting. This is not so much art as professional public information and it is this area that has fallen prey to the profit motive without coming clean about it. This is the area where one needs to be careful about believing everything you hear. So, here's a cheer for alternative media.
Of course, Shakespeare wrote plays to please those who fed his actors. Twas ever thus but product placement in movies is another issue, and corporate control of public information is an even bigger issue.
I will return this thread to the tea party. Go ahead Mad Hatter, let'er rip! I don't have anything to say on the topic except it's a media stunt by a political party and I disagree with the economics behind it so I don't have anything to say.
Flag

I'm with you patriot and will see you there.
Patriot

I'm not quite sure what "alternative media" is but, I support it and I'm sure the Gates Foundation does as well.
Right on Flag.  Be sure to bring a bag of (dare I promote a product) Liptons®.
