Lost Revenue

I hope the candidates will push for a new vibrant night life in this town.  We lost a couple of businesses and our vibrant community at night has died.  A manager at the 7-11 at 25th and Sheridan told me that thier business used to see 250 carloads of customers per weekend night,  and that number has dropped to about 80.  Taco Bell, McDonalds and Burger King are also hurting for business at night.  Revenue is a 24 hour game - Let's get back in it.

Tell that to the President.

Mason, I could not agree more with you.  What would Denver do if they lost LODO overnight?  Positive thinking is key.  We have good people running for council and the worm will turn.

I'm just saying the economic down turn is not unique to Edgewater, it is a national problem.  We will recover at some point.  The question is, will Edgewater be in a position to take advantage of it when it occures?

I think we must the the only full service metro city that does not have a theater or bowling alley or night club - or late night resturant like a pancake house.   Does council have any power or is all development left up to the manager?.

Neither

Commercial development is a private affair. If a business finds a location they like, they aquire it and commence doing business. Neither Council or the City Manager can do much about that, short of public relations out reach and sometimes tax incentives to interested businesses but primarily no one influences the commercial market.

Democracy is a fine of system.  Candidates who don’t understand the job/powers of their desired seats campaign.  People who don’t know what elected officials can or can’t do vote. And we end up with a government.  God bless America.

democracy

Wasn't it Thomas Jefferson who argued that a democracy could only survive with an educated and informed electorate?
We are in serious trouble.
