Election 2009So nobody wants to be Mayor of our fine City except Bonnie McNulty? Hmmmmmmmm. Well I guess we will all be to bed by 9:00 PM. Talk about a bedroom community. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
By the way Bonnie, we have a few empty seats on the Boards and Commissions. Are you gonna walk the town?

What’s your point? Bonnie is a lot better then that wanna-be-Cooke guy. Gardner can’t see for forest for the trees. AG is proud to kill good ideas over a single word in a resolution. The guy needs to grow up and quit watching so much tv. Good government isn’t about semantics (only a failed lawyer would go there) but about the good of the masses. Adam! You’ve lost touch! We miss you - its okay - come to the light...

Are you talking about our City Attorney? Because he parses a lot of words and opines more than he should. Adam might be better suited for the job of Mayor for the very reasons you state and he doesn't have an 8:30 PM bedtime like our current Mayor. That said, I don't think he is running for Mayor. He does have a problem if he reruns for Council. Namely, he has stated publicly on more than a few occasions that he would not run again for Council. Either way he will get my vote. At least he reads the legislation he's passing, that's better than most.

Adam could never be Mayor of Edgewater. Talk about power going to someones brain. Some people were meant to lead and some to follow. Adam as a leader would destroy what's left of this place if he was anything more than a figurehead.

No, that’s my point. Our lawyer is a lawyer, it is his job talk semantics. Adam is supposed to be a legislator, his job is government. Both jobs are needed and both jobs are different. As I see it, Thad stays within his boundaries. I can’t say the same for Adam.

Are we talking about the same Bonnie? I'm talking about the one that as an administrator never had anything to report to Council, the one that wanted to put in welfare offices and yet another senior high rise. The one that has to be in bed before the Summer Sun sets.
As for Thad, he's OK. Not great, makes a few misreads but not bad. On a scale of 1-10 he's a 5. Better than Carberry but nowhere in the same league as Tonue.

Yep, you got it. Bonnie was the city’s administrator who attended, as a guest, the council meeting each Thursday. She is the one who refused to participate in or fuel the condescending and intimidating atmosphere that Cooke fostered. Cooke’s stifling tone ceased immediately after he left, in spite of Gardner’s best efforts to keep it alive.
As the administrator of the city Bonnie’s term saw virtually no staff turnover, especially compared with the terms of Prewitt and Goodner. Over all drama at city hall has been minimal and business is just simply getting done the way it should.
Unlike Cooke and Gardner, Bonnie doesn't exert her authority by publicly berating people and micromanaging all of our departments. Because she trusts the ability of our staff she is able to delegate with confidence, knowing that they don’t need her looking over every move they make.
As for 20th and Depew, wasn’t the Ice Ranch just a great use of our resources? Why? Because Adam likes to play hockey? GET REAL! A project like 20th and Depew has as many opinions as we have citizens. Fox had his vision. Prewitt has his, Adam had his, and Bonnie is allowed to have hers. Bottom line, that project has always been more than Edgewater could manage. That’s why nothing has ever happened. Hopefully our city manager will change all of that. Dissing someone for having an idea that never even got off the ground is a little petty, don’t you think?

Have you forgotten who fought for Thad's firm and who fought for Carberry's?

Lets see now, under Bonnie, we have had two judges, a change in City Attorney, a new treasurer & a couple of grant writers. We have a clerk that got hired by the Mayor without posting the position (political favor) and Bonnie was adamantly opposed to a Council-Manager form of government. How often I wish Ronalda had won that last election but she had enemies who pushed for Bonnie......like Adam Gardner. Then again Bonnie always has other people do her dirty work for her. Their all a bunch of snakes in the grass if you ask me.

Refresh my memory please. We have had Beth since Ronalda was mayor.

Give me a break. Did I say City Clerk (a department head)? I said clerk and you know who I mean. The unqualified, part time, kind of social director-go fer. Use your brain if you're going to throw your support behind this fool. Even if she is the only candidate for Mayor, this broad isn't getting my vote.

So what we are saying is that Beth, the City Clerk, was hired by Ronalda. A good choice. But Bonnie fired a bunch of people, except Beth. Thad comes on board and just before the budget process, he takes all of the policy makers to a Rockies game. Bonnie is now in bed with the City Manager (which she has stated was not what she wanted) and Adam wants to skate on the whole deal. Then there is George and Sarah and Devon not to mention McCloskey. Remember McCloskey? Sell and rent the PD McCloskey. Sarah, the couldn't beat Tex, Clark. Devon is so busy dethroning Mayors that he forgot to set an agenda for the P&R Board. George, what exactly is your platform? Can you even see beyond your little Ivory Tower of Manhattan Beach? Adam, now there is a piece of work for you. Who's lap are you sitting in now? Joan? Well she is what she is, senior citizen all the way and devil be damned about the young ones. Laura, sweet Laura. She will do what Jamie tells her.
This will be a very interesting election.

It dosen't matter, we are stuck with Bonnie for another two years. Thank goodness she doesn't have that much power any more. Little more than a figurehead. Maybe she will actually take some time and fill the Boards.

So you want Bonnie to "take some time and fill the Boards"???? Do you know how she has struggled over the years to find some warm bodies in this community who are willing to serve on a Board? Maybe everyone says "NO" because they don't need the abuse from the snotty posters on the stick.
Filling positions on the boards is more than pointing a finger and telling people to do it. Our residents (and that includes YOU) have to step up and volunteer!

Nice observation but, not true. We have unanswered applications gathering dust down at City Hall. Maybe she doesn't like her choices but more like as not, she hasn't even interviewed them. And yes, sometimes you have to go out into the community and convince people to get involved. That is called, being proactive. That is what separates a leader from the rest of the pack. Bonnie should not feel to bad though. It has been a long time since Edgewater has had a real leader.

an opinionI think if someone bothers to volunteer, the Mayor should have a serious, concrete reason NOT to appoint if she isn't going to. Failing that she should appoint community members enthusiastically and quickly. We all live here, we should all be entitled to participate. Membership on these Boards should rotate new people in all the time so that as many people as possible are allowed to be a part of their community and new ideas are always being brought forward. These aren't Supreme Court Justices, afterall, they are just folks wanting to be a part of things. Let them in!

I disagree!!!!!!!!! There are some folks you really don't want on any board or anything to do with the City because thier too wacked out. Whoever is chosen should be able to take care of themselves before being allowed to run a program.

An opinion

These volunteers fill out applications so you know their backgrounds and they are recommended or not by the board they are applying to. You never know who is "wacked out" until they are already on the board anyway. If they are obviously "wacked out" i.e. hearing voices or scratching themselves inappropriately then maybe not but these ARE citizen boards, they are meant to include citizens. I disagree with your disagreement!
They are not being paid and they are not "running programs" they are participating in their community. They should be allowed to do that.

One persons wacked out is another persons voice of reason. It's all very relative.
