Edgewater Restaurants & BarsI'm sure everyone already is aware of the info I have today, but I'm going to post it anyway. The Cooler is now open, and I love it! Great sports bar menu, apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches, etc., 56 kinds of beers (in cans, no bottles), and 8 beers on tap. Domestic cans from $2.50 to $3.00, import types from $4. In case anyone in particular is interested, yes they do have Colt 45 (15 oz. cans). Nice brightly lit interior bar area and tables & booths, along with an open patio on the south end. Went into Anise, a very nice looking Mediterranean Bistro. The room is wide open, even to the kitchen in the back. Nice tablecloths on all the tables, a small bar in the front on the north side. Lunch and dinner menu with plenty of French, Italian (Northern) items. rach of lamb, pastas, mussels, calamari, etc. A little pricier than we're used to in Edgewater, dinner from $16 - $23 range. But, what the heck, let's upgrade ourselves a little. Great view looking east from their outdoor patio area right in front of the building. Tamale Kitchen appears to be very close to opening - I can't wait. I'm sure everyone is aware that Angie closed down. She was having a little trouble coming up to code in her coffee shop. Hope she is able to re-open. We were in the Inn yesterday afternoon about 3 PM and noticed that the Tiki Torch was not open. Went by today about noon and not open. Hope they are not having trouble this soon, does anyone know if they are closing or what?? Let's all support our local businesses when we can, we can do it, we're not that small of a town.

Bill, thanks for the thumbs up. I was by there and wondered what the Cooler was. Glad to know you approve. Maybe we'll run into you munching down one of these days. lauraK

Thai place is great. The tiki torch is terrible. Service is terrible. It will go under for the millionth time again. (How many owners, like 5 in 5 years. Are sure it’s not a front for something else?)Edgewater Inn in off course is awesome.

Food is goodYes, US Thai is very good, is continually ranked and reviewed as one of the best in Denver Metro area. Strange about Tiki Torch, when we were in for lunch a couple of weeks ago, had very good sandwiches, good drinks, and received very good service. Maybe some inconsistancies there huh?

Comfort foodI hate to be harsh but the truth must be told.
The Cooler is a little loud for my taste but might be right on for a younger crowd and an alternative to Sloans (also loud and a bit shady). Tiki Torch was nice but really lacked in the promise of something exotic. The Edgewater Inn has done something to the pizza and has lost its Edge. Can't report on the Thai place, last time I was there it was very good but too exotic for the wife. Sorry to hear about Angie, maybe her dream is to big for 25th Ave. and the many constraints it poses. La Cascada is the place to be before a Council meeting but the food is over cooked. China Cafe? I gave up on them when the Tong took over management. Burger King, Sonic, McDonalds, Subway and Starbucks are the same no matter where. Jersey Mike's Subs puts out a mean Philly but my cardiologist nixes that one along with Naples Sisters Pizza N Mussels and Pudge Bros Pizza. The Lakeview Lounge? Have a little pickled pigs feet with your well drink.
Lot's to eat but no five star fare. Not even a Sunday morning greasy spoon with really great Huevos Rancheros. The closest place for that culinary delight is the LJM Cafe located at 54th & Sheridan. Of course we always have the King Soopers Deli. Compared to our friends on East 17th Ave., we have lots of places to go but no where to feast.
Of course these are only opinions (first amendment) and are not based in culinary fact (disclaimer). If I had to judge the palette of Edgewater, I would base it on the smell of green Chile cooking on the stovetops of our citizens, the odor of BBQ wafting from the backyards and the comfort food taste of a warm casserole delivered during a time of need by a caring neighbor.

Not harsh at my friend. Poignant & insightful? Maybe, but not harsh....

Edgewater Restaurants & BarsC'mon Harlander and guest of 9/23, give our town a break. Too loud?? I guess my wife and I fall into that "younger crowd" genre, noise doesn't bother us that much, and I know we're older than you. At least we have variety here in our little burg. let's keep it going! By the way, thanks for advising that La Cascada is the place to be prior to council meetings, it seems that would be a good place to avoid. (Kidding, kidding, aren't I?)

Edgewater Restaurants & BarsMy 2 cents
Checked out Tiki this weekend. Good service, disappointing food. Not much variety. Burger...chicken....salad. ehh
Is it me or does Sloan's Bar sides get smaller and smaller ?
E-Town Inn, agree with many of the others. The pizza is not the best around anymore. Sauce anyone ?
US Thai, keep it up guys, great food. Please add some beer. Imported Thai beer even better.
Wife checked out The Cooler for lunch on a week day. Reported good food, good service, wish it was a little bigger.
Looking forward to checking out the Asian place a few doors down.
Support Local folks, things are coming together.

The Bistro was nice but only one other customer. Small portions and not many people in this town will pay the high prices. I bet thier out of business in six months.

that may be a good thing. not the out of business part, but it's ok if locals don't spend there. we are desparate for people from other cityies to come here. maybe this is excactly what we need. people with more money than us buying portions that are healthy.

No secret there , The Harlander has never liked Sloan's.
I know that every time I drive by Sloans there's a bunch of very expensive cars parked there so they must not be so awful. They must be spending money or they wouldnt be driving their cars to our city. Someone must like their place or they would have closed by now.
I say open up the town for anyone who wants to spend their money here. I like the idea of Oh! geezzzz! people who don't live here spending their money here .
What a novel concept. we need to change our sign to read.
"All money is welcome here."

Or it is a front for people with lots of money - for other things- who don't care about the food or service- both below sub-par.
It might as well be an "ice scream" store!
EEEEEKKKKK!

who cares they sell about 300,000 worth of food per year / not bad. Add the booze and we have a winner / not to mention they own the police department.

THEY OWN THE POLICE DEPARTMENT ---so is THAT why there haven't been any arrests for the drunk drivers and drugs that run through there?
Thank you for "enlightening" me. And it is sad that you see that as a good thing???? Now go have another beer!

Anise Mediterranean BistroMy husband and I went to the bistro last week. We LOVED it!!!
The food was incredible. Patrick had the Ciopinno and I had the salmon. Both were wonderful. Even the peas and orzo were special! And the Creme Brulee was the best I have ever had. Melt in your mouth incredible!!!
I think the servings were plenty big enough for a meal. We left very satisfied. The prices are a little on the high side, but again, it's not McDOnalds or SLoans or Sisters. It's really delicious, well prepared food. And it sure wasn't served on plasticware.
Speaking of service - awesome. They were all very nice.
It is a place that we will definitely take our friends to, and we have already told a lot of people about it.
The only downside to the place was that they were not able to serve alcohol yet. Council approved it about a month ago, but the state caught that the hearing was 1 week shy of the one month requirement between applying and the hearing. None of us caught that. They are re-scheduled for the earliest we could get them a hearing - on the 16th of this month. I hate that this happened. We struggle to get nice businesses into our town and then this happens. Its certainly not good for a new business.
But please don't wait for the license to try this place. It is really delicious food, and they need our support.

the BistroJamie, read your review for the Bistro. It does sound good, but I'm not sure where it is. Would it please be possible for you to post their address, or if not, then at least the general area where it is located? Thanks much.javascript:emoticon(' ')javascript:emoticon(' ')

address for AniseSure. It's in the new shopping strip that was the old Bingo Hall - on Sheridan just across from the lake.
there is also a place called the Cooler and a 'green' paint store called EcoPaint (you walk in and there is relatively no smell -cool! )
There will also be a Tamale Kitchen in soon. There is also a pizza place - takeout. Little Caesar's.
Please let me know if you go to Anise and what you think.
