Did You Know?Edgewater has a Public Saftey Advisory Board. Really. Check it out in our codes http://www.colocode.com/edgewater/edgewater_02.pdf Its Article 14. Who are the members of this Board? Is anyone serving on the Board? Why aren't the vacancies posted?
Somebody or a bunch of somebodies are asleep at the helm.

From the Wheatridge TranscriptEDGEWATER PUBLIC SAFETY ADVISORY BOARD
Applications are being accepted for a voluntary position on the Edgewater Public Safety Advisory Board. This Board shall consist of the five members, appointed by the mayor. The terms of the Board members shall be two (2) years; the terms shall be staggered so that, to the extent practicable, no more than three (3) of the members’ terms shall expire in the same year.
Qualifications are as follows:
-Registered elector.
-Resident of the City for at least one (1) year immediately preceding the date of the appointment.
-Not an elected official, officer or employee of the City, a member of -the City Fire Department or a member of the Police Department Reserves.
-No convictions of embezzlement, bribery, solicitation of bribery, perjury, subornation of perjury, or any offense involving fraud.
In appointment [sic] Board members, the Mayor shall give consideration to the following, with a view towards enhancing diversity of viewpoints on the Board and providing, insofar as practicable, an appropriate representation of the demographic, social and cultural diversity of the community:
-Interest or expertise in law enforcement issues.
-Interest or expertise in firefighting issues.
-Involvement in civic or business activities in the City.
-Demographic factors such as age, ethnicity and gender.
The Board may review a complaint filed by a member of the public served by the Police Department or Fire Department. Upon request of the Mayor, the Board shall:
-Review, evaluate and recommend changes to the policies, practices, rules and procedures of the Police Department and Fire Department.
-Make recommendations for the implementation of programs to promote positive community relations with the Police Department and the Fire Department.
-Make recommendations concerning suggestions directed at the Mayor by citizens of the City concerning the Police Department or Fire Department.

Choose your battlesI think somebody on this forum is out for blood. I'll bet if you read through the whole code book you could find several more pieces of dirt to dish about. But please, get your facts straight first. Getting people riled up about real problems is one thing. But just because you're pissed off that something isn't working out the way you want it to is not a good reason to pick a fight. If you're going to spend that much energy, spend it on something productive. There are a whole lot of things worth fighting for in this town.
OK - so the board isn't getting to do the Master Plan. Move on. Fight for what is really pissing you off. The incompetencies of the director and her boss. As a citizen you have every right to expect your tax dollars to go to something worthwhile. If its being pissed away on crap, fight about that.
