That was a great debate. Let the pundits sort out the facts. Palin's media experience shined tonight as she breathed new life into the Republican's run. This is the last time she can bail McCain’s butt out of the sling. He has to cut this woman loose to do her job and then he needs to do his.
Joe held his own with no major gaffes. His experience showed and the Barracuda kept him on his feet but did not draw blood. I might ad that he was a perfect gentleman and handled Palin as an equal, as well he should.
Bottom line? Palin is much better looking straight into the camera and talking directley to America. A position Presidents are often faced with and few do well. The bra burners will eat her alive.
Joe Biden brings maturity and experience to the Democratic ticket. I particularly liked the piece where he related a change in mind he made since coming to the Senate. The Conservative fact checkers will tear him apart.

I'm not sure what the Harlander means when he says Palin bailed McCain's butt out of a sling. It seems to me that she only proved that, with a lot of good coaching and rehearsing, she can actually manage to sound marginally intelligent. I seriously doubt she had a clue what she was saying. And when Ifill asked questions that were not a part of her cramming session she stamped her foot and childishly demanded that she was only going to talk about what she wanted to talk about. (Read, what she had been coached on)

I was not any more impressed with Sarah Palin after the debate than I was after her Couric interview. The woman is simply not up to a vice-president slot. In my opinion, and the opinion of many Alaskans, she isn't even up to being a governor. And it seems many Wasillans question her ability to be the mayor of Wasilla.

I simply cannot believe that she is really taken seriously by anyone other than herself. And that is even questionable when she does her Miss America 'I am so adorable' act. If Joe Biden had behaved in the same 'folksy' manner as Palin the media would have had a heyday with him.

Sarah Palin needs to respect the process of electing a president and vice-president. She needs to respect the American people and their right to a qualified candidate. She, along with McCain, needs to quit making a mockery of the office and back out. We have experienced 8 years of a trained monkey in the whitehouse. That's enough.

Okay, I’ll elaborate...

When asked about his role as a VP Biden said he’d be the point man with the legislature. He later called Chaney dangerous (which I agree) because of Chaney’s attempts to exert undo authority over our legislative branch. He also said he’d be sitting by Obama’s side for all decisions.

Does he think that Obama needs a babysitter? Why can’t Obama do his job without legislator Biden constantly looking over his shoulder? Can Biden make the transition from the legislative branch to the executive branch?

I didn’t see Biden supporting Obama as much as campaigning against McCain. Regardless of who you support I thought that last night’s debate showed that one candidate exercised better decision making skills while choosing a VP. I don’t think that Biden is a good match for Obama. I don’t think Biden respects Obama.

If you don’t like McCain you probably don’t like Palin either, but at least they match.

After last night's debate, I feel even more committed to Obama and Biden. And I was VERY committed already. There is no doubt they have the ability, intelligence,and desire to lead our country safely, with strength and pride. Evidently, Palin and McCain can not do better than follow a practiced, (two weeks worth of cramming on her part) speech/dialog. We can't risk our country's future to McCain and Palin, neither of whom seem able to stick to their own promise of change but continue to walk in Bush's footsteps. NO MORE BUSH POLICIES. We need the stength we are seeing with Obama and Biden.

Another thought, one of the posters in another topic has eluded to the democrats being committed to welfare. I would like to point out that the elite and larger corporations, who have caused this downfall with our economy, are more guilty of that than most. They, hiding behind the tax loopholes, travel, buy homes, furnish homes, vacation homes, take vacations with family, and pay for all of it with company funds. They are legally allowed, if they discuss business or have any business use, to deduct it off of their taxes. Talk about a free ride. An acquaintance of mine, who has a father in law with a business, has been all over the country-- with husband, children, all the father's family in tow, witout paying a penny. Cause it's a business expense. See where I am going with this? Most of us can't afford a trip, by car, to see family, and the wealthy justify it all as business and pay zilch. That's welfare in my opinion. Obama and Biden will close some of these loopholes. Poor rich kids, no more free rides to exotic places on our tax dollars.

After the last two debates, I feel with certainty, Obama and Biden know and care about the middle class-- on a personal level. They are in touch and can get this country back where it belongs, in the hands of the people they represent. All of us. Not just a few. Not only that, but they can restore our position in the world as a credible power. Where we should be. A country strong and capable of defending itself and our allies.

What an eye opener the debates have been.

Biden spent 36 years in his current job and is a mulit - multi millionaire and could not outshine Palin.

Palin has about 4 years as a politician and listed her and Todds income as 166,000 dollars.

My money is on Palin. If we had more like her we might not be in this financial mess.

Obama ain't poor. He rose up through the ranks of Chicago's corrupt political system. His past associations are dubious and until recently he would not place hand over heart and recite the pledge of allegiance to our flag nor even wear a flag lapel pin. His wife has stated that until just recently (her husband wins the Democratic nomination) she never felt she was part of America. So I do believe his patriotism is in question. Is this the man we want to be Commander and Chief? I don't care how educated he is I do not want him as my President. There are far better examples of Democratic and Republican leaders to become the first African-American President. I will not vote for him just because he's black, that is not history, that is stupidity. Nor would I vote for McCain just because Palin is a woman. McCain and Palin are patriots and that is why they get my vote. I only wish it were Collen Powell and Palin. That would be a ticket!

Ya know they actually get a tear in the eye, when that Old Glory is raised up the flagpole in Wasilla, Alaska. It's a little town just like Edgewater. Palin's father was a science teacher for Gods sake. They don't like her accent and folksy manner because it reminds them of their roots. They would have had a real problem with patriots like Andy Jackson or Teddy Roosevelt. Some of Americas greatest leaders were back woods folk like Abe Lincoln. I'll bet he said "doggonit" more than a few times and yes old Abe was a "Maverick" as was George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, country folk all.
Barack Obama doesn't love America, Barack Obama loves Barack Obama and that is all to painfully evident. Even his own staff says he is without emotion and passion. He sure as hell would not have gone through what John McCain went through in North Vietnam. He would have turned colors and joined Hanoi Jane sitting on that NVA anti-aircraft gun.
I don't want a sensitive, PC correct, slick Harvard lawer as my President. I want a patriot. I feel sorry for Joe Biden, who is a patriot, even though our political thoughts differ. You can't lead this country unless you BELIEVE in this country. Why is the man even running for the office?
Get used to me liberals, because I'm not going away. Obama is more flawed than GW Bush and we cannot afford four more years of insanity. It's time some one told the truth about this man.

happen to catch the release of her income tax records? She made 100,000 more than the average 60,000 income of her state. she and hubby made 160,000. not a huge income (hmmm) but far above what she calls as her middle alaskan income. they also have more than a million in assets. hot damn. not too bad. gosh darn, gee whiz.

After watching this I have to wonder if it's not deja vu all over again. Looks awfully familiar. At the end it says that he (McCain) just didin't learn. I have to wonder again - who is the learning deficient? Him or those of us who would keep him in office - any office.

Economics in Japan · Terrible news

Just got the following news from Japan...
Following the problems in the sub-prime lending market in America and the run on UK banking, uncertainty has now hit Japan.

In the last 7 days the Origami Bank has folded, the Sumo Bank has gone belly up and the Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches.

Yesterday, it was announced that the Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today shares in the Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.

While the Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, the Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black.

Furthermore, 500 staff at the Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at the Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal.

So Sarahs race, white, is against her? The fact that she is moderatly successful is against her? Thank you Patriot for painting a clear picture of Obama. And no he is not a muslim terrorist but he was buddies with a domestic terrorist. Not to mention an assorment of other seedy reverse racist types.
There is no crime, yet, in being patriotic and or God fearing. I'm sure that could all change if Obama wins.
