City Treasurer QuitsThe Mayor announced to the Citizens Budgetary Review Committee that the City Treasurer, Cindy Walker, is resigning as of this Thursday. This comes on the heels of Cindy Walker announcing that she was indeed the Department Head of the City’s Department of Finance as spelled out in our recently passed City Charter. This resignation comes at an awkward time as the City Budget must be submitted to the City Council no later than September first as per Charter. The Council must have a game plan for hiring a City Manager, which needs to be in the budget, by November first.
I have no more details at this time.

Not to mention all the payroll, supplemental employee insurance deductions, etc.
Wow what a mess ! Does anyone know why? She seemed like a nice lady, it's so un professional to leave like that without a replacement on staff.

Nice is one thing but efficiency is another. I want someone in that office that is efficient and maybe not so nice?

The Treasurer is not the only inefficiant thing at City Hall. The lady was trying to do her job, including pointing out some inefficiencies in the Clerks office. What are they going to do when a qualified Manager takes over?

I hope the mayor takes this opportunity to hire a real certified accountant.
This city has struggled with amateurs and 'friends' in professional positions.

I guess this means there won't be much on the City website anymore, considering that Cindy was the Webmaster.

I guess not. She was probably the only person who knows how to post stuff on a website.
Don't ya know.

maybe this will open the way for a new web site that is more current and less of an embarrassment. edgewater's is very behind the times-very unprofessional, outdated material and minimal updates. still shows ronalda as mayor in several places. not much there if someone is looking for information or wanted to move here. certainly hope we have a city manager in place pretty soon. many of these situations will be avoided.
