Go 25th!

OkobojiI heard a bar. That sounds okay, but not nearly as good as that new Fish and Chips place on Sheridan.

Provident Tavern is planning on being an east-coast style pub with a very inexpensive menu pub-style menu. There are looking forward to becoming a local hang-out.
They circulated their own liquor petition so they could meet with, and talk with people in our community. It seemed important to them that they be good neighbors as well as a successful business.

As apposed to Sloans heavy handed approach. How refreshing.

What did Sloans go that was so bad?Neighbors had a chance to speak out against the development of Sloans during P&Z and Council just like any other development. I think its turned out nicely.

Do you live next door to Sloans?

Sloane's Not a home away from homeIt's like an echo chamber in there. It's much to noisy, and the park bench wooden seats don't help the ambience, sense of comfort or noise levels. It is just not a cozy place, it's very loud and very sterile. Good luck to the new place. Take a tip from Europe, make the place cozy!

Cozy is good, echo chamber is bad. So is enclosed smoking on the "patio" as well as illegal. Sloans is hardly a good neighbor. The food ain't all that good either not to mention all the gunk they throw out back in the alley.

Liquor, fights, liqour.
Liquor, loud music, liquor.
Liquor, liquor, liquor.
A bar is a bar is a bar.

You who are against Sloans are so shallow. I guess the run down building that was fallling apart with weeds all around was good for the neighborhood. If you like abandoned buildings so much move into the section 8 housing by 20th and Depew and live on Obama money for ever.

Exactly! It is a wonderful addition to our community - not sure why all the hate.

At least the abandon building was quite and I didn't have a bunch of drunks and dopers relieving themselves on my lawn.

?all I said was the acoustics were bad and the benches were hard, that it lacked coziness. That isn't going to be everyone's issue. If you like it there, by all means, go there often, spend lots of money. That's fine. I'm not attacking the place, I'm just saying I hope the next establishment caters to a different demographic. Dining and pub diversity is good, I think.

Maybe you shouldn't have decided to buy a house next door to commercial property. Thats the thing about commercial, it could turn out to be anything. You rely on your commissions and council to stand up for what the community wants. I was on P&Z at the time Sloans was approved I remember a heck of a lot more residents in favor than not. Like another poster said, put your house on the market and pack up. I want people in Edgewater that are ready to move forward. Sloans filled a spot empty for years.
