Official PostingsThey have never been required to post on the web site. The three legal and official posing places are: outside the library, outside of city hall and in the lobby area in front of Jennifer’s desk. It has been put on the web mostly as a courtesy. The new charter only states that if council were to choose to vote to make the web site an “official” posting place they could. The charter does nothing to require any postings on the web site. The city isn’t required to maintain a web site at all.

just a thought

in this day and age of the Internet its just a matter of a key stroke to post something. The web site as ok as it is is way in the last century as far as it look and information. It's something that potential business owners look at when looking at a location. I think it's an important thing to have it updated. Good thing we will have a City Manager soon.

we do want to know

I find it disappointing that the city cannot find a few minutes to post the meeting agendas and minutes on the city site. It is a simple thing to do and would make a lot of its citizens happy to be in the know about meetings and such. I am thinking that a city manager should make sure it is done and done in a timely fashion. As the previous poster said, it is just a few key strokes and involves very time to post onto the web. We do want to be informed and have all gotten used to, and appreciated, when the agendas were there for us to see.

If you want the City Website to be an official posting place call your Council people and attend the July 31st Council meeting to tell them so, that's when they will be discussing the Charter which allows the City wesite for all posting and publishing purposes. That policy, by Charter, must be adopted by ordinance.

agenda posting
|
How about all of us in the TS community send an email to each council member asking them to mandate the city site as an official posting site-- either the current city site, sad as it is, or (I hope) the new site that has been talked about and is possibly being designed.
Thanks Jamie for your info and thanks last poster for the date info about the charter and discussion and suggestion to contact council. Let's do it.

If we're brainstorming here, I would also like Public Notices at our fingertips well.
Waste too much gas drivng around town looking for big yard signs.
