I'm assuming you mean an effigy. If you hang any real person you go to prison. The image of a hanging woman is almost as repulsive as that of a black man. A point of historical fact, many women were hung as witches and that image is as terrifying as those that came out of the Jim Crow South. This is not a humorous symbol and I am shocked that anyone who claims to support Obama could be so callous. I am also intelligent enough to know that it is not indicative of most Obama supporters.

The effigy of Sarah Palin is in very poor taste and serves no one but the media...But saying its the same as showing a black mans effigy hanging shows no sensitivity on what people of color have endured. Comparing it to the Salem witch Trials??? I believe that was over 300 years ago.... People of color are still hanged,dragged behind trucks and have violence committed against them in the present. In the not to distant past in the south the whole town would turn out to see an uppity arrogant ni**** hanged..(sound familar)I believe similar words are used on Fox News to describe Barak Obama..Why??? Because their skin pigment is not white..I am not aware of any white women being hanged for being white,uppity and arrogant. And women are still hung, stoned to death , buried alive and mutilated. Women are commonly beaten, raped and murdered and yes, even in the twenty first century, burned alive for being a witch. If nothing else, history teaches us about that darker side of humanity. Ask anyone who lived through the Holicast. There is no good reason to hang anyone in effigy. A noose is a noose and it doesn't care what color the skin or the gender of it's victim. It is a frightening symbol of oppression.

Though I do not agree with Powell on his endorsement of Obama I still would support Powell in a bid for the Oval Office. We've all been exposed to this hateful, archaic thinking called racism. We are all responsible for growing past it personally and culturally.

The fact is "race" doesn't exist. We all evolved from the same African stock in the beginning. Some of us migrated to northern climates and lost, over generations, the brown pigment in our skin.
The fact is, the only race is the human race. Race, as a human distinction, has been created by man. It is artificial, arbitrary, and meaningless. It is a construct invented by man to separate us from each other but it has no basis in fact or DNA.
To put it simply, we are all one. End of story.
