Up under City Government under the thread If you were going to ask the candidates a question.. the following was posted by a Guest.

This is the kind of stuff that drives me crazy. Without a strong commercial base forget the minorities, seniors and kids. No sales tax revenue and we will be lucky to have Police protection, Emergency Services, trash pickup and all the rest of the conveniences our Corporation has to offer, to all of the above special needs groups.
The functions of the Federal, State, County and Municipal, Government cannot be homogenized into a simple one size fits all agenda. Not if you wish to celebrate Liberty. I refuse to become a faceless, soulless and grey clothed cog in some socialists wet dream of a Utopian Society. I celebrate diversity and responsibility for ones self and admire those that contribute back to community of their own free will, that is why I am a True Patriot. |

This doesn’t make you a “Patriot” but it does speak to the rights and power of the individual. Ask not, want not....if you want it done, do it....Don’t condemn me for not doing it for you. |

I believe you would be surprised at how aghast the rest of the world is when they see our mean streets mentality. The richest nation on Earth spares no quarter for the least among us.
You are welcome to your politics but it doesn't make me proud to be an American. |

And I am aghast when I see their mean streets not mentally but in reality. Sadam's Iraq, Ahmadinejad's Iran, Chavez's Venezuela, The Saudi Royal Families rein, the Taliban throwing acid on young school girls, the warlords of Africa and their precious blood diamonds, the Mexican cartels ruthless drug and human trafficking business, the bloody legacy of the Russian Mafia, the French oppression of it's Muslim population and the list goes on and on.
You are welcome to your politics but, I thank God every day that I'm an American, each on every day. |

And this makes me nuts. Who are you to speak for the rest of the world? You don’t know what the whole rest of the world thinks. Many from other parts of the world come here by choice. Americans leave here by choice. We are not obligated to be what you think others want to see. I do not aspire to a classless society where everyone is the same and has the same regardless of their personal decisions and talents |

Here's the deal. I have actually traveled to other countries and heard their thought first hand. I am only telling you what I heard. If you are about to tell me, "America, Love It or Leave it".
Well, I've heard that before. It wasn't right that time either. |

No one is asking you to love it or leave it. You must love something about it or you would have already left and set up shop in one of those more civilized countries where you do not dare speak out against the governing body. But here, here in the United States of America, you can speak your mind, as you have, and face no persecution for your ideals. By speaking out, even your discontent, you only further establish your patriotism and in a way your concern for the land you love. In your own way, you are a True Patriot, enjoying the Liberty given you by our Founding Fathers and defended by those you may even disdain for their sacrifice to guarantee those rights to you. Dare I say it.....May God Bless America, that you feel compelled to redress your grievances and have a free and unfettered platform from which to express those grievances.
