Devon - based on this statement, "I'm running for Council because I want to see youth programming funded for our kids"
Devon,
What programs will you be doing? How will you get this done? Most important, where are you getting the money from?
I've seen the budget, it's tight. What programs do you want and how will you pay for them.
Voter - I'm not against this, I just don't know how you will pay for it and what programs you want to start.
Why would I just not go to Lakewood or Wheat Ridge Rec for these programs. |

Edgewater just hired a new park and recreation director who is at this moment working on the programs. He is also working on a survey that will go to every home. This is being done by a company contracted by the city of Edgewater as part of the develpment of a Park and Recreation Master Plan. This will collect citizen input for what is wanted and needed here, as well as how to proceed with a plan of action.
Dan Maples is our new P&R director and is very energetic and experienced! About time, huh? |

| A lot better than the Light Switch Lady. Devon tried to get the Light Switch Lady to do what Dan is doing. She was to busy planting trees within a foot or two of City Hall and painting the Gazebo that God awful color. |

| Will you please just let Lydia lie? We now have a competent director. Lydia is gone. Can we please just get on with it? |

| Just don't want anyone blaming Devon for Lydias mistakes. Or was it really Bonnies mistakes? Oh well. A new day, a new way. |

| Oh please....enough all ready. The ‘light switch lady’ was always Devon’s bone to pick. He’s reputation was fine till you stepped in with this crap. The future folks not the past can we move on. |

Thank you for feed back but it does not answer my questions. I like movies in the parks and I like the bands in the park.

No offense, but these sort of seem like "gotcha" questions to me, The Observer, here.
If any candidate indicates an interest in youth programs, i.e."I want to see youth programming funded for our kids" that doesn't mean the candidate will be, personally "doing" the programs. Obviously, the Parks and Rec. Director will do that.
The candidate is saying to me they would be supportive of youth programming in their role as a Councilperson and if elected, they would be supportive of the Parks and Recreation Director's work to research funding sources, identify programming that is appropriate for the community (such as the Parks and Recreation Survey being conducted now) and once the proposals get to the level of Council where the P&R Director is asking Council to fund the programs, I hear this Candidate saying he will encourage Council cooperation in funding such programs and will support them by voting for them.
A Council person's job is not to find funding, write programming or determine how to pay for programming even.
His or her job is to listen to the proposals presented to them by the professional City Staff and weight them against other City needs or desires and vote for what they think the City will benefit most from.
The budget, such as it is, has nothing to do with this.
Recreation programs for kids can be funded through grants and almost always are because county, state and federal sources recognise youth programs would be low on the priority list for a small city so they provide grants specifically for that purpose so kids recreation doesn't have to compete with say, infrastructure improvements. Why? Because if they didn't kids would never get anything!
It will be the P&R Director's job to identify those funding sources, not Council.
So, I'm just asking. Would you care to "re-state" your question again so that it makes sense this time? |

Anyone got a kleenex?
I (Observer) have never taken one journalism class. The topic bores me. I have never been published, not even "small time" and never cared to be, so you must have me confused with someone else.
My question: "Would you like to re-state your question so it makes sense?", remains. Are you trying to dodge the question or don't you know how to make sense?
