I good and economical tip I learned to make homemade stock. Freeze your vegetable peels and bones from meats after preparing a meal and when you get a full freezerbag, throw it all in the pot and cook it up with some seasoning. Strain and freeze in ice cube trays for some homemade stock. 1 ice cube tray holds about 2 cups. Then you can take out what you need, when you need it.
To be even greener, after you make the stock, throw the recycled veggies in a composte pile.
Enjoy! |

Except, I think if you check master composters they say not to throw animal protein in the compost bin. Maybe by that time the bones would be OK.
Otherwise, this is a wonderful idea. Thanks!
